The Pathways Tour, hosted by Senator Carol Liu, will be exploring the Community Schools Movement, a strategy which aligns the resources of an entire community to support student success and strengthen families. Pathways Tour participants will visit innovative and effective programs in various communities and learn more about promoting community schools partnerships, institutionalizing relationships, and overcoming the challenges to aligning collaborative efforts. From school-based health centers to industry themed college and career strategies and parent engagement, community schools are changing communities.
The Community Schools Movement is a strategy to align the resources of the entire community to support student success and strengthen families and schools. In an era of limited revenue, the community schools concept fosters intentional collaborations among school districts; state, county and city government; non-profits; and business. Using public schools as hubs, community schools bring together many partners to offer a range of supports and opportunities to children, youth, families and communities. Partners work to achieve these results:
