Leadership Conference Education Fund releases report, Reversing the Rising Tide of Inequality: Achieving Educational Equity for Each and Every Child

This report outlines the next steps for narrowing the education disparities identified by the Equity and Excellence Commission and aims to bolster the effort to achieve both quality and fairness in our nation’s public education system.

Reversing the Rising Tide of Inequality explains the current available state remedies for inequity; examines the Equity and Excellence Commission’s findings regarding the inequities that exist in U.S. education and its five-part agenda to address them; and concludes with recommendations designed to operationalize that agenda and make equal educational opportunity a reality for each and every child in the United States. Reversing the Rising Tide of Inequality

In February 2011, the Secretary of Education, Arne Duncan established the Equity and Excellence Commission to address disparities in resources and opportunities that contribute to achievement gaps. The commission’s final report, For Each
and Every Child
, was released in February 2013. Rural Trust, Executive Director, Dr. Doris Terry Williams served on the commission.
